Morecroft

This is the history of the Morecroft family – mainly from Armitage and surrounding villages in Staffordshire.  I have traced them back so far to Thomas Morecroft born 1711 in Mavesyn Ridware, Staffordshire.

My grandmother was a Dutton from Hargrave in Cheshire so her history is included here too.

NB The spelling of the surname varies  over the years – sometimes Moorcroft sometimes Morecroft. And even Moorecroft.  For ease of use I use the Morecroft spelling.
